Published on Monday 10nd October 2023 by Dan Short
The “discovery” and “dream” phases of the appreciative inquiry were undertaken over the summer. They established a strong case for Portsmouth to continue to the “design” and “delivery” phases of the appreciative inquiry process. Commenting on the "Discovery" and "dream" phases Rachael Roberts, Deputy Director of Adult Social Care said:
“It has been a pleasure to work with Alder Advice. They were flexible and responsive and professional in their approach. They have drawn out what is working well and also area's for development and have articulated this in a clear accessible report.”
The design and delivery phases are now being initiated and will take place over from 1st April 2024 to early in 2025. The main activites are to:
- Co-produce a new shared/agreed/updated strengths-based ASC vision.
- Update the service strategy incorporating the new vision.
- Undertake a strengths-based staff training programme to develop a “common strengths based practice mindset” that will help guide all future decisions and guide behaviours.
- Redesign the assessment, care management, review documents and contract management processes and systems to fully align with strengths-based practice.
- Shape the ASC culture (values/assumptions) to ensure behavours consistently align with strengths based practice by:
- Aligning the leadership approach with strengths based practice
- Redesigning performance management data sets, monitoring and accountability systems.
- Developing a strengths based professional community of practice.
