Dr Sophie Doswell

Dr Sophie Doswell is a clinical psychologist who has worked within integrated learning disability services for twenty years, with twelve years within a leadership role. She currently holds a consultant lead psychologist role within a large NHS Mental Health Trust. Sophie also works for NHS England as a clinical reviewer, supporting commissioners and care team to ensure the right community and impatient care is being provided for individuals with complex needs.

With a particular interest in service development, Sophie has undertaken a range of externally funded projects across learning disability services, including researching and implementing Positive Behaviour Support, developing a stigma resistance intervention and introducing therapeutic approaches such as Non-Violent Resistance and sex and relationships education and support.

Sophie’s clinical and management roles have included the introduction of clinical and care pathways, audit and review of services and formal reviews of individual care packages.

Sophie regularly publishes and presents on her work, is the editor of a professional journal and recently co-authored a book.
